Breakfast at Tiffany’s 1

breakfast_mmrBreakfast at Tiffany’s follows a young socialite, Holly Golightly (Audrey Hepburn) as she moves from once socialite group to the next with no real plan on what she is going to do with her life. When Paul Varjak (George Peppard) arrives on the scene the strike up a good friendship but as he attempts to get closer to the aloof Holly he is repeatedly rebuffed or overlooked.

There are multiple emotional highs and lows as we follow the developments between Holly and Paul as they grow close, but then are forced apart, then back together again. It is a fairly simple story without too much ado but it is done very well and it looks beautiful on the screen.

Breakfast at Tiffany’s was my introduction to Audrey and just as George Peppard did, I fell in love with her almost immediately. She was a true original and I doubt there will ever be another one like her. Her character might’ve been a “real phony,” but she was the genuine article.
