First Sunshine Blogger Award 2

It is with great thanks that I have been nominated by Tom (Plain Simple Tom) for my First Sunshine Blogger award. Check out his blog and follow him on twitter for some great views.

Here be the rules:

  • Post the award on your blog
  • Thank the person who nominated you
  • Answer the 11 questions they set you
  • Pick another 11 bloggers (and let them know they are nominated!)
  • Set them 11 questions

Here are my answers to Tom’s questions:

1.Regarding your blog, what are you most proud of?

I’m most proud of actually having a blog. I’ve not been doing this long but it has been an achievement to set this up and start getting my thoughts out there.

2.Which book have you read the most times? And why?

It is probably a tie between I Am Legend and Lord of The Rings. I Am Legend is just a perfect book (forget the film, that is an abomination of Richard Matheson’s text). It is short but get’s you into Robert Neville’s shoes pretty quickly and you really do feel for him and his plight. And then you get the ending of the book. Totally the best thing I have ever read, I can still remember now the feeling of reading that last line. Awesome.

Lord of theRings is just a work of classic fiction. From the rich world building to the numerous species and their challenges and triumphs and how they pull together, and fight, when the world is under threat. Goes to show that the little man can win the day, sometimes!

3.What is your favourite thing to cook? (Or eat, if you don’t cook!)

I really love making chilli. With the kids around I can’t go full spice-crazy but given the chance there would be an extra dose of chilli powder. Add to that all the extras; guacamole, sour cream, refried beans, nacho/tortilla chips and you have an awesome feast!

4.Cinema or Netflix?

Netflix has been the viewing portal of choice of late, mainly due to not being able to get out to the cinema as much as I have wanted to in the past but I am trying to balance that out.

5.Which country/town/city/village, have you always wanted to visit?

New Zealand has always been high up my list of places to visit.

6.Which moment in your life has made you laugh the hardest?

Hard to recall but probably watching Peter Kay live surrounded by hundreds of northerners.

7.Trump will be president. Thoughts?

It is going to be a trainwreck. The man has no control over his mouth or his actions, not a particularly desirable quality in the most powerful leader in the world. Easily riled and totally self interested, he’s already laying the foundations for some big, far reaching changes over there.

8.Who would you most like to meet under the mistletoe this Christmas?

I would have to say my wonderful wife. She is everything that I could possibly want.

9.What’s your favourite Christmas song?

Let it Snow

10.Who let the dogs out?

Who? Who? Who? Who? Who?

11.And finally, a favourite: Which five celebrities would you like to invite to a dinner party?

The Rock (cos he would probably eat the most and be highly entertaining!)

Tom Hardy (to be the moody one in the corner)

Denis Villeneuve (just to probe his brain on the films that he has made and how he made them)

Michael McIntyre (to add to the laughter)

Dave Grohl (because the man is a legend)

As I was writing this I was fortunate enough to get a second nomination!  So thank you very much Jess Boswell from The Cozy Chronicles

And my answers to the questions from Jess:

1.DCU or Marvel?

Marvel. Far more entertaining so far.

2.Do you have a favourite director?

Before last year it was David Fincher but my exposure to Denis Villenueve this year has catapulted him to the top of my list.

3.Did you have a favourite song from 2016?

I don’t manage to keep up to date with music in the same way that I used to so most of my listening is older stuff but for this I would say “Black man in a White world” by Michael Kiwanuka.

4.Got a favourite Superhero?

Batman for realism but StarLord for sheer entertainment.

5.What’s your favourite season of the year?

Not a fan of hot weather so I would have to say Autumn, just before the summer has totally finished but before the temperature has dropped too much.

6.Do you have any siblings?

I have an older sister

7.Have you fallen asleep during any film at the cinema?

I try not to and I think I have managed that so far!

8.Do you like going to live music gigs?

I do but I haven’t been to one for a while. A long while!

9.Do you prefer comics or film adaptations?

They both have their merits but I would have to say comics.

10.Would you prefer to read the book before seeing the film adaptation?

I always try to read the book before seeing the film (if I’m interested in it).

11.Do you prefer watching or reading film reviews?

I prefer to read film reviews.

And I will be passing on my nominations to:

Jason’s movie blog

Shuggie Says

CR@B Howard

Film Carnage

Euro But Not Trash

Film Fluff

Hammy Reviews

My questions to you are:

  1. What is your favourite film from 2017 so far?
  2. What was the best present you got for Christmas?
  3. What is your favourite TV show?
  4. What do you like to spread on your toast?
  5. Do you prefer to binge watch or or watch week by week?
  6. What do you watch most of your content on? TV/Cinema/Computer/Mobile Device?
  7. Tea or Coffee?
  8. What film have you just never got around to watching but still really mean to?
  9. What was the last film that you watched from a female director?
  10. 3D or not 3D?
  11. Where do you get most of your film/movie/TV news from?

Once again, many thanks go out to Tom and Jess for nominating me. I look forward to your answers!

Congrats on your first Sunshine Award. I must say…that is the most original and awesome Sunshine Award banner you have made! (Of an excellent movie that I find so few people have watched)

Many thanks, could’ve spend more time on the text but it’ll do for a start!
I haven’t seen Sunshine for a long time but I do remember that it was better than a lot of people thought it was!
