Directed by André Øvredal, after his excellent 2010 found footage Trollhunter, The Autopsy of Jane Doe follows the events surrounding the post-mortem examination of an unnamed female discovered half buried in a basement of a house.
Brian Cox and Emile Hirsch play the father-son duo of coroners who perform the methodical examination of the dead body before things start to take a supernatural turn. At times ridiculous but also creepy and exciting this is a fun, vibrant horror film an manages to build nicely through its 86mins run time. Part Evil Dead, part Exorcist and part Oculus, this film blends them well to provide an effective horror film. Both lead actors are great in their roles, as is Olwen Kelly as the unmoving, unnerving Jane Doe
