Rolling Stones – Blue and Lonesome

As I grow ever older my musical tastes have been changing and, as with the Rolling Stones, they have made changes, reinvented themselves to keep relevant, but this is more of a step back in time, harking back to their older music. A bit more blues (ok a lot more blues) than some of their music from the last 20 or so years.

That being said, this is still a really good album. Really easy to listen to, Jagger still has a great voice for this type of music, being mostly classic sounding tunes throughout. I don’t feel that there is a standout track that I’ve found yet but they all work their blues mojo on my ears, giving me just enough of a dose of quality sounds. Head bobbing, toe tapping rhythms mixed in with some great guitar work and mouth-organ pervade this album

I’m finding more of a taste for blues music as I grow older, and mainly that is leaning towards the heavier/rock end of the scale. This album is not quite that heavy but definitely has deep blues running through it.

As a spur of the moment choice it has come through a winner for me. Really good listen.
